Beilun is a famous hometown of overseas
Chinese in East Zhejiang. It has nearly 15,000 overseas
Chinese distributed in Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan and 28 other
countries and areas, and there is no lack of famous
persons, such as Mr. Gu Guohua, President of Tai Chong
Cheang Steamship Co., (HK) Ltd., Zhang Minyu, the
founder of Taiwan Chia Hsin Cement Corp, and the
grandparents of Mr.Tung Chee Hua, the first Chief
Executive of Hongkong were also from Beilun. By November
2002, the district has received the donation of over RMB
65,000,000 from overseas Chinese and has set up over 270
public welfare establishments.
Mrs. Gu ShuiWenmei,
original family home at Xiaogang Town Beilun District
Ningbo City, is now a member of the 10th CPPCC of
Ningbo. Mrs. Gu is the wife of Gu Guohe, late President
of Tai Chong Cheang Steamship Co., (HK) Ltd. Mr. Gu
loved his hometown very much. Since 1987, he donated HKD
1,500,000 and RMB 2,500,000 to build and cooperate in
building Zongrui Libarary, Zhoucuiyu Kindergarten,
Zongrui Hospital, Beilun District Children's Palace.
After Mr. Gu Guohe passed away in 1990, Mrs. Gu donated
RMB 5,000,000 to build the senior middle school of Gu
Guohe Middle school in the name of Gu Guohe Foundation,
and invested RMB 6,000,000 to buy equipment and build
emergency treatment building for Zongrui Hospital
together with Mr. Gu Guohua. Zhejiang Provincial
People's Government has granted Mr. Gu Guohe the title
of " Model Devoted to Hometown".
Mr. Guo Guohua,
origin al family home at Daqi Town Beilun
District Ningbo City, is now Present of Tai Chong Cheang
Steamship Co., (HK) Ltd., President of Ningbo Countrymen
Association in Hongkong, and a member of the 7th CPPCC
of Zhejiang Province. Mr. Gu and his brother Mr. Gu
Guohe cared much about the construction of their
hometown, and he had put forward many valuable ideas and
suggestions on the construction and application of
Ningbo Port and Wharf. The brothers had donated to build
Zongrui Hospital, Zongrui Library, and Gu Guohe Middle
School; in 1997, Mr. Gu Donated RMB 4,000,000 to build
Navigation Building of Ningbo University, and donated to
construct Ningbo Countrymen Association Center. Zhejiang
 Provincial People's
Government has granted Mr. Gu the title of " Model
Devoted to Hometown".
Mrs. Sun Zhouyueqin,
original family home at Qianzong Village Daqi Town
Beilun District Ningbo City, is now President of Hong
Kong Simatelex Manufactory Co., Ltd. Mrs. Sun Zhouyueqin
cares much about her hometown and returned for many
times. Since 1993, she and her brother Mr. Zhou Minguo
donated RMB 1,100,000 to construct Zhou Yuman Education
Building and Hou Xiaoren Science Hall at Daqi Middle
School, RMB 400,000 to buy teaching tools, RMB 200,000
to buy computers, and RMB 2,100,000 to build Zhouhou
Xiaoren Homes for the Aged in Daqi Town. Standing
Committee of Ningbo Municipal People's Congress has
awarded Ms. Sun Zhouyueqin the title of "Honorary
Citizen".
Mr. Yan Xincai,
original family home at Lvhua Village Daqi Town Beilun
District Ningbo City, is now President of Hong Kong
Weide Industry Co., Ltd. and Vice President of Hong Kong
Yonggang Association. Mr. Yan is an industrialist and a
philanthropist. He cares much about the development of
his hometown and public welfare establishments. He has
donated Daqi Experimental Elementary School,  RMB 1,500,000 for Yan Xonglai
Education Building and Gu Lianqing PE Building, RMB
300,000 for Yan Xincai Experiment Building, RMB 600,000
for Zhao Youfei Building, RMB 500,000 for Qianlv Avenue
in Daqi Town, RMB 300,000 for Sanshan Youfei
Kindergarten, RMB 250,000 for Yan Xincai Paradise for
the Aged at Lvhua Daqi Town, and automobiles; totally
his donation has been over RMB 5,150,000. Standing
Committee of Ningbo Municipal People's Congress has
awarded Mr. Yan Xincai the title of "Honorary Citizen".
Mr. Ye Jiequan, original family
home at Tashi Chengwan Village Daqi Town Beilun District
Ningbo City, is now President of General Electric
Holding (Group) Ltd., Vice President of Hong Kong
Yonggang Association, member of the 11th Ningbo CPPCC,
and Honorary President of Overseas Ningbo Association.
He is concerned about and supports education and public
welfare establishments in Beilun and Ningbo. Since 1995,
he has donated to Ningbo University, Ningbo Normal
University, Yude Elementary School and Yucai Elementary
School at Wangao Daqi Town, etc. Standing Committee of
Ningbo Municipal People's Congress has awarded Mr. Ye
Jiequan the title of "Honorary Citizen".
Mr. Wang Shaocheng
(deceased), original family home at Xiangjia
Village Xinqi Town Beilun District Ningbo City, was
Director and General Manager of Hong Kong Liguang
Properties Co., Ltd. He loved his country and supported education
and health development in his hometown. Since 1992, he
invested in realty in Zhenhai Ningbo, and donated to
build Shaocheng Elementary School at Xinqi, Beilun
Children's Palace, and donated ambulances to Xinqi
Hospital, etc. In September 1998, Standing Committee of
Ningbo Municipal People's Congress has awarded Mr. Wang
Shaocheng the title of "Honorary Citizen".
Mr. Li Kun (deceased),
also named Li Shikun, original family home at Tongmeng
Village Chaiqiao Town Beilun District Ningbo City, was
President of Hong Kong Hegang Co., Ltd., Honorary
Advisor of Hong Kong Yonggang Association, and Honorary
President of Ningbo Yonggang Association. Mr. Li Kun was
concerned about the construction in his hometown. And he
had invested in almost 20 projects, including Zhenhai Thermo-electric Plant,
Asian Pacific International Industry and Trade Company,
Hegang (Ningbo) Plastic Industry Co., Ltd. and so on,
donated an ambulance to Chaiqiao Hospital, RMB 720,000
to build the library for Chaiqiao Ludu Middle School,
RMB 100,000 to install TV Translator Station for
Chaiqiao Town, and RMB 330,000 to install water supply
transformer for Tongmeng Village. Standing Committee of
Ningbo Municipal People's Congress has awarded Mr. Li
Kun the title of "Honorary Citizen". |
