A news release given by the city government the day before yesterday said the State Council has approved the Ningbo's proposal of building a rapid rail transit network.

According to the control plan, the rail network will have three main lines and three branch lines with the Sangjiangkou Area as the core, totaling 247.5 kilometers. The phase 1 project, namely, the cross-shaped framework (Line 1 and Line 2) is to be completed by 2015. The Beilun section of the Line 1 will be 23.3 km.

It's learned the prophase work is to be started soon.
