Beilun District Released 2.2 Million Fries to Improve River Water Quality

From December 4 to 7, Beilun District Water Conservancy Bureau released 2.2 million fries in all sub-districts throughout the district, to improve the river water quality.

On the afternoon of December 4, River Management Office, Beilun District Water Conservancy Bureau firstly released over 700,000 fries of silver carps and crucians in the Qingdun Section of Xiaojia River, the upstream of Yanhe River, etc.

Wang Yun, an officer in River Management Office, Beilun District Water Conservancy Bureau said: “the silver carps and crucians released by us today are also known as river scavengers, which can absorb the eutrophicated materials in the river, and play a significant role in the improvement of river water quality as well as the maintenance of water ecological balance.”

From this year, Beilun District will implement the small fish release project for three years, and plan to release 2.2 million fries every year.
