Buddha Bead Waterfall (Fozhu Waterfall)

Buddha Bead Waterfall (Fozhu Waterfall), also named Jade Dragon Waterfall, is located in the Guanyin Valley in the Ninepeak Mountain Scenic Area of Beilun. The highest peak from which the waterfall flow from is 184.4 metres above the sea level, and the fall of the water is nearly 30 meters. The vegetation on the mountain over the fall cover 3000 ares. A fairy tale tells that when the one-thousand-hand Buddha (Guanyin) created the nine dragons, a cluster of Buddha bead fell from her hands to the mountain cliff, and the trace changed into a waterfall, hence it is named as Buddha Bead Waterfall.   The soil in the area is well-preserved, which provides abundant water resource and the continuous flowing of the waterfall. The views in rainy days and the winter are spectacular as described in a poem “the winding waterfall from the sky hangs like a silver curtain above head, the rainbow running across the mountain makes a grand picture, inviting the mountain reflected in the bright green pool as a part.”

There are other waterfalls in the Guanyin Valley, although the fall is not so high, they are in particular shapes and possess rich water resource in all the seasons. Compared with the Yandang Waterfall, those in the Guanyin Valley have their own feature.
