1. Ningbo Economic and Technological Development Area
Ningbo Economic and Technological Development Area was established in October 1984 after approved by the State Council. It has a total area of 29.6km², and is one of the earliest and largest state level development areas in China.

Ningbo Development Area is in the northeast of Ningbo City, behind the largest deepwater port in China Beilun Port, and is about 17km from the center of the city. After near twenty years of efforts, the development area has presented a general framework for large-scaled development and construction, has built good software and hardware investment environment, and has absorbed investments from about 30 countries and areas. Many famous companies have settled down in the area, including EXXON, Samsonite, DOW Chemistry, Abbott Laboratories, BP, Hoechst, Mannesmann, ESSELTE, Japanese Itochu, Mitsubishi, Mitsui, Kanematsu, Marubeni, Korean Sumsung, Southeast Asian Chia Tai, Taiwan Envision Computer, Kuji Company, Reward Wool, Hsintai Rubber, Loyal Group, Tongyi Food, Evergreen Container, Ming Jong Electric Industry, TEX, Beautone, and so on; And the industries include electrics, machine, chemistry, food, weaving and printing, etc. Up to August 2000, the development area has approved 506 foreign-invested enterprises, with the total investment of USD 4,350,000,000, the contract foreign investment is USD 3,550,000,000, and the paid-in foreign investment is USD 1,360,000,000, including 17 Top 500 World Enterprises and 86 projects of the investment over USD 10,000,000. Ningbo Development Area has become an important opening window and a new economic growth point of Ningbo City and Zhejiang Province.

2. Ningbo Export Processing Area
Ningbo Export Processing Area was established in July 2002 after approved by the State Council. It is main function is to reform the supervision and management modes of processing trades, absorb foreign investments with preferential policies, and develop export processing industries competitive on international markets to use foreign investment, introduce technologies, increase employment opportunities and earn foreign exchanges. Ningbo Export Processing Area is located in Daqi Town Beilun District, covering an area of 3 square kilometer , and it is now being constructed.

3. Beilun Modern Agriculture Comprehensive Development Area
Beilun modern agriculture comprehensive development area is a city level agriculture development in Ningbo and it has been listed state agriculture comprehensive development hi-tech demonstrative project by State Agriculture Comprehensive Development Office. The agriculture comprehensive development area has an area of 11km², consisting of two flower belts and four functional areas of hi-tech agriculture area, sightseeing agriculture area, agricultural processing industry area, and agricultural research and administrative service area. The development objective of Ningbo Beilun agriculture comprehensive development area is to build Beilun agriculture comprehensive development area an incubation base of hi-tech agriculture talents, a special breed reproduction base in Zhejiang and East China, and an export agricultural product base, realize hi-tech agricultural production, agricultural opening, optimized agricultural structure, garden-like environment, and build a comprehensive urban agricultural development area integrated with agriculture science, production, processing, trade and sightseeing within 3-5 years.

4. Large-sized Chemical Industry Base
The construction of a large-sized chemical industry base will be sped up on the basis of Taisu Petrochemical Area and Qingshi Chemical Industry Area. Taisu petrochemical project has a total investment of USD 10,000,000,000 and it will be constructed in two stages. At present, the 1st-stage 11 projects with the total investment of USD 1,260,000,000 are being constructed. Mitsubishi Rayon acrylic fiber project has a total investment of USD 110,000,000, and the annual production will be 50,000 tons. DuPont PTA project has a total investment of USD 1,000,000,000, and the 1st-stage investment is USD 330,000,000, mainly dealing in producing and processing PTA engineering resin. PET and PBT projects of Union Developing Group Of China have a total investment of RMB 1,000,000,000, and it is planned to started in April 2003 and will be put into production in the first half of 2004.

5. Metallurgy Production Base
The construction of metallurgy production base will be sped up, with stainless steel production as a feature. Baoxin stainless steel project has a total investment of RMB 1,250,000,000, the 2nd-stage 80,000 ton engineering is in construction and will be operated within this year; The 3rd and 4th-satge engineering is being prepared, and the eventual annual production will be 500,000 tons, which will be the largest stainless steel production base in East China. Huaguang stainless steel project has a total investment of RMB 100,000,000. The construction is planned to be finished in August 2003, it will be put into production in October, and the annual production of stainless steel will be 300,000tons.

6. Motor Fitting Production Base
The construction of motor fitting production base will be sped up on the basis of Motor Fitting Industrial Park. The machine and fitting production advantages of TOP, Hsin Tai, and EM-Motor in the area should be further exerted to complete with domestic and foreign enterprises. At present, 38 motor fitting projects have been introduced, with the total investment of USD 600,000,000. Next the settlement and construction of joint venture project of Ducati motor will the key emphasis and a complete motor production project will be introduced. It is planned to establish a lot of top-grade motor fitting enterprises and a production base for 300,000 automobiles.

7. Hi-tech Industry Base
The construction of precision machining, biochemistry, new medicine industry base will be sped up on the basis of Dagang Sifang Park. A lot of important projects like Chenming, Liyuan Science, Zhihong Mainboard, Gigabyte Mainboard, Haina Semiconductor, Prodisc Technology, Tian'an Bio-pharmaceutical, Ronga'n Bio-pharmaceutical, and Top Software should be promoted to build a hi-tech industry base with integrated circuit, computer mainframe and auxiliary products, enterprises of overseas Chinese students, and software enterprises. Zhongwei Wafer, total investment of USD 1,500,000,000, plans to construct three semiconductor wafer works, including two 6-inch wafer works, and one 8-inch wafer works. Zhihong Mainboard project, total investment of USD 90,000,000, plans to construct 20 main board production lines. Prodisc CD project, 1st-stage total investment of USD 100,000,000, plans to construct 50 recordable CD production lines. Chenming electric project, total investment of USD 60,000,000, plans to construct a computer system with the annual production of 6,000,000 computers. Liyuan Science project, total investment of USD 100,000,000, is mainly engaged in semiconductor packing, testing and IC design, etc. Gigabyte Mainboard project, total investment of USD 90,000,000, mainly produces computer mainboards and entire computers. Haina semiconductor project of Zhejiang University, total investment of USD 100,000,000, will construct 40 epitaxial furnaces.

8. Science and Technology Incubation Park of Ningbo Economic and Technological Development Area
